I think the article “Dog Fighting” is a sport that is cruel and unusual punishment for any kind of dog and I am positive that many people would agree.
As you already know Michael Vick NFL quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons was part of this disgusting sport for over 6 years and killed many dogs in the process.The owners of certain dogs executed them because they were naturally kind twords other dogs the owners called these dogs kennel trash. The dog fighting sport as you know was mush like cock fighting placing bets on dogs and paying to raise fighting dogs which were usaully pit bulls or boxers.

I found the article “Empty Promises on Global Warming” very alarming because global warming is a serous issue. I think George W. Bush needs to create a law that will take effect before 2025. Waiting until 2025, will allow carbon emissions to grow for another seventeen years! President Bush says that he is doing this, “to allow companies to voluntary stop carbon emissions.” How can we trust his word when he said a few years ago that he would “reduces carbon intensity”? He could just as easily have developed government owned land into fields of windmills to provide us with renewable energy. Windmills are simple and have been around since medieval times. “Carbon free energy is little more than a dream now,” according to the writer of the article.
Unlike the president, others are passing laws now. “Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman has signed onto the Western Regional Climate Action Initiative, joining Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington, and the Canadian province of British Columbia in their efforts to reduce the impact of global warming. The pact will set state and regional emissions reduction goals and establish a “cap and trade” system to allow companies to trade emissions credits.” This isn’t the only state bill passed stating the problem
“The Minnesota House and Senate have both approved far-reaching changes to the state’s energy policy. The legislation, SF 145, sponsored by Sen. Yvonne Prettner Solon and Rep. Bill Hilty, sets goals of cutting greenhouse gas emissions from 2005 levels by 15 percent by 2015, by 30 percent by 2025, and by 80 percent by 2050. The bill asks the commissioners of various state agencies to work with stakeholders to develop a plan to meet these goals to present to the Legislature next year.” If they can take these measures, then why can’t Bush? Global warning is a serious issue that needs everyone’s attention so that it can be addressed now. Waiting too long may destroy our earth. President Bush and more of our leaders need to take action now!

My opinion on global warming (and the article) is that Bush was very idiotic to not take action as soon as he was informed about the situation. For if he would have taken action earlier, this climate change would be less severe. If I were in his shoes, I would have been concerned greatly about this. President Bush basically ignored the problem for the last seven years. Recently, he has decided that he should “take action”. He came up with a main proposal, but he doesn’t feel a need for immediate action…He is willing to wait seventeen more years before it is better. Global warming to me is the results of thousands of years abusing and using the environment to our own advantage. It may not be that serious to some people but in reality everyone needs to be concerned. If there is no action taken to stop global warming then it could result in oceans rising, extreme weather changes and an increase in tropical diseases.

Know a lot of people believe in global warming, like me, but those who don’t well I want to tell you if global warming isn’t true then why are, they telling you to use gasoline that’s good for the earth, to recycle, and to carpool if possible. Listen cause to help the u.s we need everyone’s help, acutally we need everyone in the world.

For once I agree with Mr. Bush we need to take action. “Mr. Bush’s main was to halt global warming, and growth in admission in the U.S.” to reverse or stop global warming by 2025,but that’s 14 years from now land miens believed the world would end in 2012 and their music is only a couple seconds of. In 2012 that’s only 4 years away from now. 2025 is 14 years from now how do they no the world won’t end by then,ha. i belive us as a acotamy should work hart to fight global warming

I think it is fine to be different, but Lali is another story. Lali, born in India, ws born with craniofacial duplication. Which means she has two faces on one headShe can fuly function both noses, blink all eyes, and eat through both mouths ; this could be a problem.

Though Lali was born in a poor village, she is worshipped as a goddess. Lali is believed to be the incarnation of the Hindu goddes of power, Shakti. All popularity can spoil ones mind , but unless Lali is helped she will always be an outcast, plain different then others. It will be hard for her to live, love , grow, marry,etc. Dispite doctors attempts, her parents decline having Lali helped.

Her oarents must look over the fact that she was born “special” and look at her future this way. I hope that her parents and gaurdians see the truth and face facts. By keeping Lali “different” , they could ruin her life.

David Blaine,though probably a smart man ,needs to focus on a real job than doing things like spending a week in a coffin underground. Or fastening himself for 44 days in a box suspended above the Thame. Jobs like animal care, being a doctor, or much more better ways of spending for life and contibuting , than doing horrific spunts like his. In your column , you describe what David is coming up with as a new stunt. In this stunt ,he has decided to fill his lungs with pure oxygen and prepare to hold his breath for a matter of 16 minutes. Personally, I think this stunt is a very bad idea. It is both dangerous ,because of the lack a carbon dioxide being pulled out his body and a waste of time and disrupting other peoples lives. Even if this stunt did work….what would it prove ? Really, all it would prove would be that a individual can hold his breath for more than a normal human. Not to be a bearer of bad news or anything , but sooner or later he will accidentally kill himself if he keeps up the idiotic stunts for nothing. Thank you for listening to my opinion.

The whole steroids thing in baseball is really getting out of hand. Too many players are using steroids, and officials are freaking out because of that. I don’t think that it is such a big problem.

First of all, steroids don’t help you throw accurate, hit a 95 mph fastball, or catch one. It doesn’t make them all that of a great player. All steroids do are give ball players big muscles.

Also, many great ball players have been blamed for using steroids like it was a national crime. In the article, “Justice Department is Investigating Tejada”, they are trying to see if Miguel Tejada is using steroids. The Orioles owner, Peter Angelos, states “I never had any indication that he used illegal substances, you hear a lot of rumors, particularly in recent years, but I don’t operate on rumors.” Is there proof on the subject, or is it just a rumor?

I don’t understand why steroids are such a big problem. It doesn’t help players play a better game of baseball or any other sport. It never occurred to me that steroids made a player the best in the world.

Dear Modern Arabian Horse,

After reading your article, “Majestic Arabian Horse Friends Get Through the Toughest Trials in Life”, I felt even more of an appreciation for Arabian horses. Tears were actually in my eyes while reading this article about this very special relationship between Mrs. Sandlin and her Arabian horse, Spirit.
This article was interesting to me because Mrs. Sandlin is from South Carolina and has Arabian horses just like me. Mrs. Sandlin had struggled through one of the most difficult diseases known to man, cancer. She knew that her treatments and recovery would be extremely difficult and long. Her family encouraged her to no longer have her beautiful Arabian horses as they knew their daily upkeep would be hard on Mrs. Sandlin as she was going through treatments. Mrs. Sandlin knew in her heart that Spirit would give her strength and hope everyday. She and Spirit have a very special bond as she had gotten Spirit as a foal.
Mrs. Sandlin had surgery, 35 treatments of radiation and 10 weeks of chemotherapy which lasted for two years. During this time, several of Mrs. Sandlin’s friends offered to board Spirit and she would visit him on her better days. The visits made her feel stronger and always put a smile on her face. The doctors said that Spirit was one of the reasons that Mrs. Sandlin now has such good health.
I have heard about Arabian Horse Therapy for children with special needs, but this was the first time I have heard about an Arabian horses helping someone who was battling cancer. I have always felt a special connection with my horse, Maggie. I am sure that Spirit raised Mrs. Sandlin’s spirits!
